Visit the world-famous wineries and discover historic town of Ston on this Peljesac peninsula wine tasting tour from Dubrovnik. This long, narrow peninsula north of Dubrovnik is best known for its red wines of the Plavac Mali sort. Wine experts believe that the popular red vines called Zinfandel are direct descendants of Plavac Mali, exported by the Habsburg monarchy during the 19th century when they controlled Croatia. After a brief stop in Ston to see the second largest wall in Europe, ancient salt factory and town’s treasury we will make our way to through picturesque countryside for the first wine tasting of our tour.
Each winery has its own specialty, and the three we have selected for your tour represent the best that Peljesac peninsula has to offer. Optional visit to Ćurlin will introduce you with Plavac mali sort or ´Primitivo´ how it´s being called in Italy and in Edivo Wines you will hear about Navis Mysterium – wine aged in amphorae on the bottom of the sea. In this food and wine tour have also option to include oyster tasting, lunch of mussels - ´buzara´, grilled fish or meat and vegetable from garden in family village house. At Matusko cellar, which is part of base Dubrovnik wine tours, you will learn about the history of wine production, see production process firsthand and taste the premium ones – Dingac wine and Postup. Continuing through the Dingač tunnel, steep hillside vineyards toward Trstenik and Žuljana, your guide will explain what makes this region so ideal for growing grapes while you enjoy beautiful landscape. This private day trip can be enriched with side stop on sandy beach in Prapratno for swimming.
Ćurlin is family owned winery in business for three generation. Here you will taste native Plavac Mali in its’ best; sharp, dry and strong. This might be unique opportunity to taste Navis Mysterium - limited edition of boutique wine aged in amphorae on the bottom of Adriatic by Edivo Vina.
pnknau: „“We (2 Kiwi couples) booked this day tour through Vidokrug who, as tour and accommodation organisers, we would recommend to anyone. Our tour guide Braco, picked us up at 8.30 am from our apartment in Lapad Beach and we headed North towards the Peljesac Peninsular. Did an interesting drive initially inland via the Old Napoleon Road, stopping at our first winery for a tasting and had to take it easy as the wine was so good and we had a few more tastings ahead. The next stop was at the old town of Ston where we had coffee and a bite to eat. Ston has the 2nd longest protective rock wall in the world around the town and can be walked (very high and lots of steps) to get a great view. As Ston was a valuable town for it´s salt production, the wall was built centuries ago to protect this asset.
Braco then took us further up the Peninsular for more wine tasting and stopped for a break for complimentary Oyster tasting (Almost as good as NZ Bluff Oysters) at a pleasant Oyster and Mussel farm inlet. Had to try the Mussels and local beer also and would recommend this as well. A couple of more Wine tasting venues, all of which were excellent, the last also offering a taste of the local Grappa (Distilled Grape skin liquor) which was our fill for the day and enough to make for a happy trip, arriving back to Lapad around 4.30 pm. The cost for the four of us at Euro 300 was well worth it. Would totally recommend Braco as a tour guide for this trip as his knowledge of the area was excellent and was also very obliging for any photo opportunities on route.”

Mike Williams: „ Ivo did an awesome job guiding us through the Peljesac Peninsula. It was easy to change our pickup location to the Old Town instead of the cruise port and we did lunch in Mali Ston. Oyster tasting and wineries visits were perfect. Highly Recommended.“ Read more
